Meeting Apolo Anton Ohno

I'm not kidding! There was a meeting up with the famous Olympic Gold Medalist in Speedskaing, Apolo Anton Ohno! Too bad it wasn't I who got to meet him. It was my sis, Dolly. Lucky!!! Apolo is also famous for winning the last season (I think it was the 4th) of Dancing with the Stars! He was incredible to watch. Purely a natural. Might I add that about a month before he won the contest, I gave birth to my son, Apollo. It was perfect how that all happened. Anyway, they were doing a training session/barbecue meet and greet in Surrey, BC, where my sister lives. That's where they got to meet him.

So my sister was able to tell Apolo that her sister (me) named her son after him. He said, "No Way! That is soooo cool!" Oh I wish I could have been there. Oh well. She did get his signed autograph for my son Apollo. Here's some great pics of my sis and her kids with Apolo.
I'm soooo jealous!!!

Seriously... I saw Mr. Gardner beat the Russian wrestler who was the hands-down favorite - and, he comes from the midwest, like me! have admired him from afar for awhile now - how hard he has worked and his outlook on life... although it looks like he has used up a couple of his 9 lives now. Hope he doesn't run out soon! ff

I hate to admit this, but I am a shipper to the end.. because I think (or wish) that somewhere down the line, Julianne and Apolo will get together again. I know I am probably wrong.. but it is something I would like to see.
I do think it is because Julianne is young that she is kind of fickled. Her life is definately changing, and I think she is enjoying the ride. I wish her the best on her singing, and her dancing and with her new boyfriend. I do think the reason she is leaving the tour to do DWTS is because she does feel a loyalty to the show, that really gave her the big break she needed to have the singing career. I don't think it will hurt her in the long run.

While I like Julianne, and I admire her accomplishments, I'm beginning to think that she is a "love the one you're with" kind of gal. Perhaps that's just part and parcel of her age. It will be interesting to see if this romance has any longterm legs.

Julianne Hough: Paisley Party Dropout

As we mentioned yesterday, Julianne Hough is dropping out of the Paisley Party tour due to her commitment to ABC's Dancing with the Stars. We would like to add a few of our opinions on her decision.

1. What is she thinking? Most artists who are just starting out would kill to be on Brad Paisley's tour. For many artists, it takes years in the business to be able to open for someone like Brad! Her album debuted on May 20th of this year she really hasn't paid her dues like most artists do!

2. This is poor planning. Didn't she (or her management) know that the tour would conflict with DWTS when she was booking appearances?

3. The girl needs to decide if she is going to be a dancer or a country music singer! We're pretty sure that some of her fans aren't going to be happy to learn that she dropped out of her tour!

4. Does she really think she is going to win DWTS again? Don't get us wrong, she is an amazing dancer, but after people have won a few times don't they just pair them up with the OLD geriatric men who can't dance anyway?

5. BIG mistake. We think that pretty much sums it up!

What do y'all think? We've already read a few of your comments from yesterday's post and no one seems to think this was the right move! We sure don't...not if she's truly committed to a country music career!!

Contract or not, I wonder how much they were convinced in the beginning that ABC would give her a season off like they had Maks previously.

When I have time to watch DWTS, I do enjoy the young pros who were raised under the dance tutelage of Corky & Shirley Ballas. Their choreography is just wonderful and I would not be surprised to see Derek Hough float to the semi-finals this year, relevant to the skills and development of his new student.

As far as timing goes Perfect Pair. I had not considered that angle. If Miss Julianne knows who her partner is, and if that partner is married and/or engaged and/or in a relationship, I too believe it is advantageous for her to share the new romance information prior to Tom announcing the opening sequence to DWTS 7.

She may have preferred to keep that information private, but having been called out as a homewrecker on Season 5 and the intense scrutiny of the AJ fans, I can really find no fault in her sharing that information.

In her shoes, I may have done the same! So glad I am not in her shoes.

I'm happy for her. Chuck Wicks seems like a great guy and I hope he treats her well. I also wish Zack nothing but the best, and I hope he and Julianne can continue to be friends.

Thank goodness we now have confirmation. Her announcement was indeed perfectly timed -- right before the public gets to know who her partner is, to hopefully nip another "homewrecker" rumor in the bud.

I'm very interested in what kind of chemistry they will have this season. Despite my initial doubts last spring, I liked how she and Adam made it work. I hope they make it all the way to the final this time.
